SMS Pricing for Home Care Agencies: How INMYTEAM Compares With Mailchimp, Textline, and SimpleTexting
Text messaging has become an essential communication channel for home care and home health agencies. Agencies use SMS to notify caregivers about open cases, communicate schedule changes, send reminders, follow up on missing documents, and coordinate time-sensitive operational needs.
The challenge is that SMS providers do not all price their services the same way. Some charge a monthly platform subscription. Others require clients to purchase message-credit bundles. Carrier fees, phone-number fees, contact limits, user fees, and unused credits can make the real monthly cost much higher than the advertised price.
INMYTEAM is taking a simpler approach: SMS is available as an optional add-on to the INMYTEAM platform for $0.03 per outbound SMS segment.
Clients pay for the SMS segments they actually send, without purchasing a separate standalone texting platform.
The Quick Pricing Comparison
The following example compares the approximate cost of sending 1,000 standard outbound SMS segments in one month.
| Platform | Pricing structure | Approximate monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| INMYTEAM | $0.03 per outbound SMS segment | $30.00 |
| Mailchimp | Paid marketing plan plus SMS credits | From approximately $33.00 |
| Textline | $149 Essentials subscription, included credits, additional credits and possible registration fees | Approximately $161–$176 |
| SimpleTexting | SMS credit plan, carrier fees and possible number fees | Approximately $51.50–$61.50 |
These estimates are based on publicly available U.S. pricing reviewed in August 2026. Actual competitor costs can vary by plan, number type, contact count, billing commitment, message length, carrier and optional features.
INMYTEAM: Pay Only for the SMS You Use
With the INMYTEAM SMS add-on, the pricing is straightforward:
- 1,000 SMS segments: $30
- 5,000 SMS segments: $150
- 10,000 SMS segments: $300
- 50,000 SMS segments: $1,500
There is no separate SMS software subscription to purchase and no monthly message-credit bundle that must be used before it expires. The SMS add-on is available directly within the INMYTEAM environment used by the agency.
That distinction matters. INMYTEAM is already designed around home care and home health workflows, including scheduling, caregiver coordination, EVV, documentation, HR compliance and billing. Agencies can also communicate open cases to caregivers through the platform’s caregiver coordination tools.
Instead of adding another independent application, another login and another contact database, agencies can use SMS alongside the operational information already maintained in INMYTEAM.
Mailchimp: Competitive for Marketing Campaigns
Mailchimp can be an economical option for businesses that primarily want to run promotional SMS and email marketing campaigns.
However, SMS is not available as a standalone Mailchimp service. Clients must subscribe to an eligible paid Mailchimp marketing plan and then purchase SMS credits as an additional monthly subscription. Mailchimp’s public pricing currently shows an entry-level Essentials and SMS combination starting at approximately $33 per month, although the final cost depends on the number of contacts, the selected marketing plan and the SMS credit package.
Mailchimp credits are purchased in blocks and automatically renew. Unused SMS credits expire at the end of the billing period and do not roll over. In the United States, one standard SMS consumes one credit, while an MMS consumes three credits.
Mailchimp can be particularly competitive when a company sends large, predictable marketing campaigns and fully uses its purchased credits. However, it is primarily a marketing and audience-management platform—not a home care operations platform.
For an agency that only needs promotional campaigns, Mailchimp may be a good fit. For an agency that wants SMS connected to caregiver scheduling, case coverage and day-to-day operations, INMYTEAM provides a more integrated workflow.
Textline: The Same 3-Cent Message Rate, Plus a Platform Subscription
At first glance, Textline’s additional message-credit price appears similar to INMYTEAM’s rate. Textline currently charges $0.03 per prepaid add-on credit and $0.04 per backup credit.
The difference is that Textline also requires a monthly platform subscription.
Textline’s month-to-month Essentials plan currently costs $149 per month and includes 600 credits. Its HIPAA Essentials plan starts at $249 per month, also with 600 included monthly credits. Unused credits included with the subscription expire at the end of the billing cycle.
For a business sending 1,000 SMS messages through Textline:
- Essentials subscription: $149
- 400 additional credits at $0.03: $12
- Estimated total with a toll-free number: $161
- Estimated total with one 10DLC campaign fee: $176
Textline currently charges a $15 monthly campaign-registration fee when a client uses a registered 10DLC local number. Toll-free numbers do not currently have that monthly registration fee.
Textline provides a standalone shared-inbox and business-texting application with messaging features, departments and agents. For organizations specifically looking for a separate texting application, that subscription may be appropriate.
For an existing INMYTEAM client, however, paying $149 or more each month for a second communication platform may be unnecessary when SMS can be added to the software the agency already uses.
SimpleTexting: Lower Subscription Cost, but More Than 3 Cents per Message at Typical Volumes
SimpleTexting offers bundled SMS plans and is generally less expensive than Textline at lower and medium message volumes.
Its published pricing includes:
- $29 for 500 credits
- $49 for 1,000 credits
- $79 for 2,000 credits
- $109 for 3,000 credits
SimpleTexting also passes carrier fees to the client. Its pricing information estimates average U.S. carrier fees at approximately $0.0025 per message. A toll-free number has no additional monthly number charge, while a local number generally adds $10 per month and a one-time $4 registration fee.
For 1,000 outbound SMS messages, the estimated monthly cost is:
- 1,000-credit plan: $49
- Average carrier fees: approximately $2.50
- Estimated total with a toll-free number: $51.50
- Estimated total with a local number: $61.50, excluding the one-time registration charge
SimpleTexting becomes more competitive as message volume increases, especially when clients fully use their purchased credits. It also includes standalone SMS campaign tools, a shared inbox, unlimited contacts and free inbound SMS on its paid plans.
However, clients are still paying for and managing a separate SMS platform outside their home care management software.
Why the Total Cost Matters More Than the Advertised Message Price
When comparing SMS providers, agencies should evaluate more than the price shown next to “per message.”
The total cost may include:
- Monthly platform subscriptions
- Prepaid SMS-credit packages
- Credits that expire before they are used
- Carrier surcharges
- Local-number or campaign-registration fees
- Additional users or departments
- Contact-based pricing
- Integration and data-synchronization costs
- Staff time spent working between multiple systems
A provider may advertise a 2-cent or 3-cent credit, but that does not necessarily mean the client’s total cost is 2 or 3 cents per message.
INMYTEAM’s advantage is not simply the 3-cent rate. It is the combination of transparent usage-based pricing and operational integration for home care agencies.
One Important Detail: SMS Messages Are Charged by Segment
The INMYTEAM SMS add-on is priced at $0.03 per outbound SMS segment, not necessarily 3 cents for everything that appears as one message on a recipient’s phone.
A standard GSM-7 SMS can contain up to 160 characters. Longer messages are separated into multiple billable segments. Messages containing Unicode characters—such as some emojis, smart quotation marks or non-Latin characters—can have a limit of only 70 characters before segmentation begins. Twilio and mobile carriers bill SMS traffic by segment.
For example:
- A one-segment message costs $0.03
- A two-segment message costs $0.06
- A three-segment message costs $0.09
Keeping operational messages concise helps agencies control costs and can also improve readability and deliverability.
Is INMYTEAM the Lowest-Priced Option?
At common small and medium agency usage levels, INMYTEAM’s 3-cent pay-as-you-go rate is highly competitive.
It is substantially less expensive than Textline’s total monthly cost and generally less expensive than SimpleTexting at lower and medium volumes. Mailchimp can offer attractive credit pricing for high-volume marketing campaigns, but it requires a paid marketing subscription and does not provide the same home care operational context.
No single provider will be the least expensive in every possible situation. A company sending hundreds of thousands of predictable promotional messages may negotiate different volume pricing with a marketing platform.
For most home care agencies, however, the more relevant question is:
Why purchase and manage a separate texting platform when SMS can operate inside the home care software your team already uses?
A Simpler Way to Communicate
INMYTEAM’s SMS add-on gives home care and home health agencies a clear pricing model:
$0.03 per outbound SMS segment. Pay for what you use. No separate SMS platform subscription.
Agencies can communicate with caregivers and staff while keeping their operational workflows connected to the same platform used for scheduling, EVV, documentation, compliance, billing and caregiver coordination.
For agencies looking to simplify communication, reduce the number of applications their teams manage and maintain predictable SMS costs, INMYTEAM offers a practical alternative to standalone texting platforms.
